The Nomination Committee is pleased to announce that the next Rector of St Mary Magdalene's, Adelaide, will be the Rev'd Catherine Pennington.
Cate is 55 years old and was ordained deacon and priest in the Diocese of Adelaide in 2000/2001, though she moved overseas soon after her ordination.
Prior to ordination training, she spent around 20 years in scientific research, including a long period as a researcher in the defence area.
Cate has two adult children from her first marriage, which ended with her husband's early death. She remarried in the late 90s and has a daughter, Phoebe, who will be 13 years of age next month.
Cate is steeped in the catholic expression of Anglicanism and looks forward to leading a community in which the catholic faith is expressed in its fullness, both liturgically and in the ministry and mission of the parish.
Cate is presently a Parish Priest in the Diocese of Chelmsford in the Church of England. She expects to arrive in Adelaide in late August so her commissioning will probably be in early September.
Please pray for Cate and Phoebe, and for the parish, as we ready ourselves for a new season of ministry.
